Elisabeth
J. McCalden, BSc, Cartographic Technologist
If cartophilia is a disease which causes its victims
to be obsessed with the study of maps, I have been stricken with
this since very early childhood. It began with my own family and
their burning desire to travel.
My first experience with maps was as a small child.
My parents would put a map in front of me to keep me from asking
“How much farther ‘til we get there?” as we headed
down the road. As a family, we travelled extensively which required
a lot of time in the car. The tourist map, you could say, was my
entertainment.
I also have a deep affection for drawing and watercolour.
This combined with my love of maps lead to the discovery of cartography.
After the completion of a university degree in geography I went
on to achieve a Cartographic Technologist diploma. From there I
began working in various positions as both a cartographer and geographic
information specialist.
The dream to start a cartography business was realized
through the opening of Creative Cartographics. My focus is to provide
my clients with beautifully designed, affordable and unique cartographic
products. My devotion to geographical sciences combined with my
passion for the graphic arts will allow me to provide a comprehensive
service, specializing in stylish, quality map products.
